"The changes to the minimum requirements are a reflection of our new standard of requirements, which we believe better represent the minimum PC configuration required," CDPR says.

CD Projekt RED is gearing up for the launch of Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty in September, and based on what it’s revealed so far, it seems like the expansion is going to be a major upgrade over the lackluster base game. But not only is it making improvements with its own changes, an update releasing alongside will also be making significant changes to the base game itself in order to bring it up to scratch- and that, as you might, is going to raise the base game’s system requirements on PC as well.

CD Projekt RED has revealed the full PC requirements for the upcoming expansion, and confirmed that with the release of an update in the future (at least 90 days from now), the requirements for the base game will also be updated.

This is being done for multiple reasons, with the developer saying, “The changes to the minimum requirements are a reflection of our new standard of requirements, which we believe better represent the minimum PC configuration required to run the game at 1080p, while maintaining an average of 30 FPS at low preset. The reason for making these changes is that updating the requirements is an important part of the game improvement process, and of enhancing and adding new features.”

Meanwhile, support for newly released GPUs that weren’t available at the launch of the base game is also being added.

The biggest change being made is to support being dropped for HDDs. Going forward following the launch of this update, Cyberpunk 2077 will require an SSD, which CDPR says will “offer faster loading times, improved streaming, and better overall performance when compared to HDDs.”

The developer does note, however, that even after the release of this update, Cyberpunk 2077 will not stop working on PCs with previous minimum requirements. CDPR will, however, “discontinue active support” and “stop testing the game on those setups.”

You can check out the full requirements below.
