Despite controversies surrounding Gearbox CEO Randy Pitchford over the years (and recently, such as the pay dispute with former Claptrap voice actor David Eddings), the Borderlands series is still a huge success. Publisher Take-Two Interactive revealed in its latest earnings call that the series had sold-in over 43 million units worldwide till date. While this doesn’t exactly account for the number of units sold, seeing as the figure reflects shipments rathe than sales, it’s still an achievement all the same.

Borderlands 2 accounts for 20 million of those shipments alone since releasing in September 2012. In fact, the sequel still sees over 1 million players a month. This is further enhanced on Steam with the recent 4K texture update and announcement of Borderlands 3.

Take-Two also talked about Borderlands 3 being at E3 2019 in a big way (as per Niko Partners senior analyst Daniel Ahmad on Twitter). Endgame details for the title will be revealed at the expo but how much we’ll get to hear is a different story (raids have already been confirmed). Borderlands 3 will be out on September 13th for Xbox One, PS4, and PC.
