Assassin’s Creed Mirage’s developers have stressed on a number of occasions that the game is going to place a renewed emphasis on stealth and assassinations, similar to older entries in the franchise. That, of course, means players will have access to a number of tools and techniques to take out assassination targets in the game- though interestingly enough, that won’t be the only area where the game will afford you a high degree of freedom.

In a recent interview with Wccftech, narrative director Sarah Beaulieu revealed that Assassin’s Creed Mirage will let players assassinate their targets in whatever order they choose, rather than linearly guiding you from one target to the next. As per Beaulieu, how much you have increased the Hidden Ones’ rank (which will increase every time you assassinate a main target) will not affect which targets you can or cannot go after.

“You can do every target the way you want in the order that you want without having made any progress [with the Hidden Ones’ rank],” she said. “You can do anything.”

That, in turn, means that players will also be able to unlock new tools for Basim’s ever-expanding toolset in any order, with a new tool being unlocked at the Hidden Ones’ bureau every time you kill a main target.

“You get to choose,” she said when asked about the same. “Every time you kill a main target and you go back to the bureau, you report to the Rafiq and you get to choose one of the tools.”

Assassin’s Creed Mirage launches for PS5, Xbox Series X/S, PS4, Xbox One, and PC on October 12.
